The move to value is credited to the Affordable Care Act, which created the Centers forMedicare and Medicaid Innovation with the goal of lowering healthcare expenditures.
“It’s about quality and cost control and the sustainability of theMedicare Trust Fund, that’s what’s going on here,” said Paul Martino, co-founder of VillageMD, a primary-care provider with payments largely in risk-based value-based contracts.
